Post Middle School

Teacher of the Week

Teacher of the Week | Apr. 24- 28 | Coach Ladd
My name is Coach Ladd and my birthday is December 19, 1981. I teach 7th grade Science and also coach the Jr. High and High School for Post. I graduated from Columbia Southern University with my Bachelors in Business Administration. I spent the past 10 years teaching and training United States Army Soldiers before they were deployed to Iraq or Afghanistan. This has been my first year teaching in the classroom with Students and it has been a great experience. I have learned a lot from these Students and my favorite thing has been trying to figure them out. Everyday I will have at lease one student per class that will ask a question that has nothing to do with the topic we are one but has somehow made a connection to the subject. Learning how everyone's brains are so different and trying to stay ahead of the Students thought process has taught me alot.

My family is both my hobby and my everything. My wife Cammye keeps me in-line and most of the time considers me the biggest kids of our 4. I have 2 daughters and 2 sons. Aubrie who is 16, and Berklie 10. Then I have my two sons, Garret who is 14, and Brycen who is 12. A fun fact about me is that I have nicknames for my wife and kids as I do for most of the other Students I interact with. I think it makes them feel that I am more approachable since I have that connection with them.

My plans after retirement is to never stop. Life is way too short and people take too much time for granted and don't enjoy the little things. My family will always be my first but all my Students will always come in a close second. I leave them everyday with hopefully some wisdom, more laughter, and a better outlook on what to look forward too. As I always tell them, " Do you Boo Boo, the rest will work itself out."

Teacher of the Week | Apr. 3- 7| Mr. Blunt
I was born February 16, 1962 in Hale Center. Yes, that means I am 55 years old.  I attended school and graduated Hale Center High School in 1980.  I attended Texas A&M University in College Station and graduated with a BS in Animal Science in December of 1984.  After a short time farming with my family, I went back to Texas Tech and received my BS in Agriculture Education.  I have 29 years teaching experience.  I taught 23 years at Anton and 5 years at Friona.  I currently teach HS Agriculture at Post ISD. I am married to wife Linda who teaches 4th grade writing at Post Elementary.  We have two sons, Colter and Clayton.  Colter currently lives with us and Clayton will graduate from Texas A&M May 12th of this year with a BS in Landscape Architecture and Urban Design.  Clayton is also engaged to be married to Abby Hobson from Crockett next year.  I guess my favorite sports teams are the Aggies.  It has been fun to go to the games while Clayton was attending school.  My favorite thing about my job is making a difference in the kids I come in contact with.  I guess a fun fact that sticks out right now is that I have taught several members of the high school staff and members of the Post community when I was the Ag Science teacher at Anton.  These include Shelli Crow, Beau & Staci Riker, Keith Bloskas, Rick Elizondo and several others. I taught Shelli Crow 8th Grade Earth Science my very first year to teach.  She soon became my first girl in ag and the first girl I had to show barrows!!  I have taught with Coach Michael Pittman and his wife Carrie.  I always have told myself I would teach through 30 years and then take a look and see if it is the right time to retire.  We will probably end up back in the Hale Center area and help oversee our family's farms.
Teacher of the Week | Mar. 27- 31| Coach Villegas

My birthday is August 23rd and I am 26 years old.  I’m married to a very patient man named Justin, and we have the sweetest dog named Pudge! I teach 7/8th grade photography and 8th grade Computer Communications (yearbook & school website.) I’ve been teaching here in Post for 4 years and happy to say the only school I have taught thus far! One of my favorite things about my job is coaching...I love seeing the kids compete & getting to see them becoming strong, young adults, and watch them make memories they’ll never forget.I graduated from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas with a degree is Communication Design. My favorite hobbies would be reading, working out, traveling, and trying out fun/new restaurants! My favorite sports team would be UConn for girls basketball, Dallas Cowboys for football, and Texas Rangers for baseball.  One fun/random fact about me is I love pickles & Phoenix, Arizona...and my dog is my favorite thing in this world.  My plans after retirement are non existent right now! It’s too far away to have any idea. But in a perfect world, I would be living on a lake somewhere and fishing everyday!

Teacher of the Week | Feb. 27- Mar. 3| Mr. Wilson
My birthday is March 7th.  I grew up in Borger, Texas where my mom and
dad worked at a children’s home for girls.  I believe that is a major
reason I chose teaching as a profession.  I began my career in Post by
teaching Science (6th and 7th grade).  I have spent time as the
Principal at the Juvenile Detention Center.  I have also been the
Assistant Principal at Middle School and High School.  My career has
spanned 29 years with all of them being in Post.  I attended Texas
Tech University, so my favorite college team is any Red Raider team.
My favorite team of all is the Gold.  I enjoy hunting and jogging.  My
wife, Julie, and I have three children and four grandchildren.  My
favorite thing about my job is being able to watch the growth of
students from grade to grade.  I enjoy what I am doing so much, that I
have not really thought about retirement.  Go Bold Gold

I have been the 7th & 8th grade UIL Spelling coach for most of my years of teaching, and I love to see these teams win!

Teacher of the Week | Jan. 30- Feb. 3 | Dr. Coltrane
I was born just a few months after the bombing of Japan at the end of World War II and seven years before Dwight Eisenhower became President of the United States.  I grew up in Lubbock, served in the military during the 1960s, lived in a variety of places throughout this great country and then attended Texas Tech for several years, earning three degrees.  I currently teach seventh grade history in Post. I still enjoy reading and learning and watching Red Raiders football.  As for retirement, I often wonder if I even see that in my future, or at least in my immediate future;  I am afraid that life would be just too boring without this.

Teacher of the Week | Oct. 17-Oct. 21 | Coach Browning

I was born June 28th, 1986 in Memphis, TX. I grew up and graduated from Miami high school in Miami, TX. I teach seventh grade mathematics, and coach junior high and high school football and basketball, and high school baseball. This is my sixth year teaching and coaching, but my first year at Post. I taught and coached at Duncanville high school for 5 years. I attended Lubbock Christian for three years, transferred to Texas Tech for one year, and then transferred to University of Texas at Arlington where I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics. I enjoy playing all sports. Some of my favorites to play is basketball, softball, golf, and volleyball. My favorite college teams are Texas Tech and Duke, and my favorite pro teams are the Texas Rangers, Dallas Mavericks, Dallas Cowboys, and the Denver Broncos. I am not married, but have two fur babies at home. I have two cats; twin orange tabbies; Phoenix and Shylo. My favorite thing about my job is connecting with the next generation. Even though they don’t like math, it is a blessing to try and prepare these kids for the future.  It is very rewarding when the light bulb comes on, and they actually get it. That is one of the best feelings in the world. My favorite thing about coaching is being able to mold these young athletes, passing on the knowledge that was given to me growing up. A small fun fact which helps reinforce that I am a math nerd is the fact that I was born on 2π day (2 x 3.14 = 6.28). Since retirement is so far away, it’s kind of hard to think that far in advance.  Something I’ve thought about doing though is opening up or running a sporting good store.

We have 3 kids, Christina is 17 and a Senior, Elizabeth is 15 and a Sophomore, Landon is 12 and is in the 7th grade. Getting to see kids achieve things they never thought they could do. Watching them grow into young adults and finding out that they can do way more than they would have ever thought possible. Within a week’s time I get to celebrate my birthday, Jesus’ birthday and my anniversary every year. It seems so far away right now, but if I ever get there I plan on moving to a place on a lake where I can spend my days fishing or playing golf and spending time with family.

Teacher of the Week | Oct. 3-Oct. 7 | Mrs. Garza

Hello everyone!  My name is Renea Garza and I teach 8th grade Reading/English and 6th grade UIL spelling.  This is my 7th year teaching.  I have taught Reading/English for 5 years here at Post Middle School and I taught Family and Consumer Sciences for two years in Saint Jo, Texas before moving to Post.  I have attended three different colleges.  I started out at South Plains College and then I transferred to Texas Tech.  I did not graduate from Tech because I started working at University Medical Center as a medical transcriptionist.  A few years after my family and I moved to the Denton/Fort Worth area I went back to school at Texas Woman’s University (TWU) to get my teaching degree. I am married to Coach Garza and we have two boys: Austin is a sophomore at South Plains College and will be attending Texas Tech in the spring and Aric is a Junior here in Post.  My favorite hobby and sports team goes hand-in-hand: I love watching the Post BOLD GOLD football and basketball teams.  I love all of our teams, but I am a little biased because my son(s) plays(ed) football and basketball and my husband coaches both sports.  I’m not sure of any fun fact about me.  I think I am a little on the fun, crazy side (when I’m not stressed – I’m sorry 8th graders L) and I have to do everything in even numbers.  I don’t like odds. My favorite thing about being a teacher……there are many things.  I enjoy getting to know the students and building relationships with them and seeing the light bulb in their eyes when they get the right answers.  I also love seeing each of them smile and having a good day.  When I retire, I want a dog ranch where I can take care of all of the stray dogs in the world.  I do not like to see animals suffer so I need to get busy so I can afford my future career.  (I will take donations J).  I would love for my former students to come and be dog walkers and to keep in touch with me.

I have over 20 pairs of tennis shoes and they always match what I am wearing. When I retire, I would like to talk my wife into raising chickens and hippopotamus’s.
